Job summary

Worcester State University is seeking a Counseling Services Outreach Assistant (Work Study) to support social media outreach, marketing of mental health programs, and student engagement. The position is non-supervisory, 6 hours per week, on campus, and available to eligible WSU students.

The role involves assisting with Fresh Check Day, tabling, and promoting awareness campaigns, with supervision by the Counseling Center and collaboration with staff and peers.

Qualifications

• Experience in social media marketing and content creation.
• Flexibility in schedule to attend and promote awareness and education programs.
• Comfort in engaging peers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups of students, faculty, and community members.
• Experience working in mental health, advocacy, peer education, or marketing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Counseling Services in social media outreach and the marketing of mental health programs.
• Contribute to the development and promotion of critical mental health awareness campaigns and resource information.
• Work collaboratively with Counseling Services staff members.
• Participate in weekly supervisory meetings.
• Attend programs as schedule allows to aid marketing, promotion and student outreach.

Requirements:

Experience:

Comfort with content area and topics of mental health and suicide prevention.

• Experience in fields related to content (e.g. Sociology, Psychology, Urban Studies, Public Health, Marketing/Communication preferred).
• - Experience in social media marketing and content creation.
• - Flexibility in schedule to attend and promote awareness and education programs.
• - Comfort in engaging peers.
• - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups of students, faculty, and community members.
• - Experience working in mental health, advocacy, peer education, or marketing is preferred.
• - Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
