Position Details

Department: Counseling; Division: Academic Affairs; University: UNC Pembroke; Employment Type: Part‑time Temporary; FTE: 0.5; Work Schedule: 20 hours per week, flexible; Duration: 5 months per year; Salary: Commensurate with Education and Experience; Vacancies: 5; Job Number: ADJH06.

Primary Purpose

Teaching core and specialty courses in Professional School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Responsibilities
  • Teach and develop core and specialty courses for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Design and deliver instruction using distance‑education and blended learning formats.
  • Supervise practicum and internship field placement courses (when required).
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of current counseling practice and higher‑education pedagogy.
  • Engage with students, faculty, and university stakeholders to meet program objectives.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Counselor Education or a related field with a clear counselor professional identity; CACREP‑accredited degree strongly preferred.
  • For candidates with a master’s degree: relevant counseling experience, supervisory experience, and education in counseling supervision; considered for practicum and internship courses.
  • Valid licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor or Licensed School Counselor (preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to structure and deliver distance‑ and hybrid‑learning courses.
  • Prior teaching experience in higher‑education settings.
