Job summary

Walt Disney World is seeking Construction Sewing Specialists to manufacture costumes for parades, meet-and-greets, and shows. Cast will sew details on high-powered machines, using press equipment and glues to meet quality standards.

You will construct and alter garments across a variety of fabrics, collaborating with patternmakers and handling diverse materials, including synthetic and natural fibers. Competitive hourly pay starts at $20.25 in Florida, with eligible benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must successfully pass a Sewing Assessment.
• Experience with production, millinery, patternmaking, or alterations.
• Willing to work with costumes and fabrics including fur, foam, vinyl, latex and leather.
• Physical role requiring heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, kneeling, and prolonged standing.
• Repetitive grasping and gripping with hands.
• Work at various heights and in a high-lint area.
• Part-Time roles require availability for any shift (3+ days/week).
• Full-Time roles require availability 7 days/week including nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Construct garments from start to finish using sewing skills.
• Perform sophisticated sewing on a variety of fabrics.
• Apply size charts to alter garments.
• Collaborate with patternmaker on replenishment orders.
• Construct and repair/alter garments as needed.
• Share sewing techniques and standard processes.
• Be aware of performers in various stages of dress/undress.
• Read and interpret patterns and specifications with guidance.
• Manufacture and alter garments to meet efficiency standards.
• Build, repair, or alter garments using hand and machine techniques.
• Follow PPE guidelines and handle chemicals safely.
