Job summary

Honda is seeking a Cost Planning Engineer to assess cost competitiveness and value of parts and systems. You will generate cost estimates, verify reasonableness, and lead cost discussions during layout and drawing reviews to ensure alignment with cost targets.

Primarily onsite with potential for one remote day per week and some travel. The role includes opportunities to contribute to cost-focused research themes and support related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• College degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in product development and team leadership.
• Technical expertise in materials and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in CATIA, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint; data visualization skills are a plus.
• Ability to evaluate design cost optimization and work independently or in teams.

Responsibilities

• Generate accurate cost estimates based on part characteristics and manufacturing processes.
• Verify cost reasonableness during reviews.
• Lead cost discussions during layout and drawing reviews.
• Support department verification activities.
• Provide insights for cost-related research themes.
