Position Summary

As the Construction Cost Estimator, you will manage a wide range of design-build and design-bid-build construction projects throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work in a team environment for multiple clients with different estimating needs.
• Develop standard operating procedures/templates for various clients and contracts according to their needs.
• Independently prepare cost estimates from plans, drawings, and documents from the conceptual stage to final design/construction documents.
• Develop and prepare conceptual estimates using limited preliminary design documents and information.
• Collect and maintain historical cost data from past similar projects to improve estimate accuracy.
• Conduct value analysis, life cycle costing, constructability analysis, cost modeling, and alternatives analysis.
• Conduct regional market analysis, work scope definition, and integrate construction scheduling factors for projects across the U.S.
• Assist project management with scope, budget, and schedule management.
• Participate in and facilitate group meetings.
• Utilize Sage estimating software.
• Proficient in Micro-Computer Aided Cost Estimating System (MCACES).
• Ability to obtain a secret clearance.

Qualifications

The qualifications for this role include:

• Proficiency with cost estimating software (e.g., Timberline, RS Means CostWorks, Blue Book).
• Knowledge of roadway, structure, traffic engineering, and vertical construction methods.
• Knowledge of State and Federal contracting requirements.
• Understanding of Contract Documents, materials performance, environmental, legal, and safety responsibilities.
• Familiarity with CSI format and Uniformat II classification systems.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in a Cost Estimating role.

Certificates and Licenses

• Professional Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Certified Estimating Professional (CEP), or ability to obtain these certifications.
• Recognition as a Certified Construction Manager through CMAA or similar certification.

Travel

Travel between job sites and throughout the mid-Atlantic region is expected.
