Job summary

Stanley Consultants is an award-winning global consulting engineering firm seeking an Engineer-In-Training 1, Cost Estimating in Muscatine, IA. The role develops and checks cost estimates for architectural, civil, industrial, institutional, federal, and utility projects, with overtime as needed and some travel.

You will prepare material take-offs, develop detailed cost breakdowns, assemble basis of estimate packages, and gather historical data to improve future estimates.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or related field.
• 0–5 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to read construction documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepares material take-offs and reviews take-offs from planning documents or drawings.
• Prepares detailed breakdown of components and elements of estimates for systems and subsystems.
• Prepares the submittal package including basis of estimate, quantity backup, cost data and estimate.
• Accumulates, evaluates, and documents historical cost data for future estimates.
• Contacts vendors for current material costs.
• Prepares final Engineer’s estimate.
• Works with the estimating department to keep projects progressing efficiently.
• Attends off-site and in-office meetings to coordinate with external clients and internal estimating staff.
