Thorough-Staff LLC in Melville, NY seeks an Accountant focusing on cost accounting and manufacturing cost analysis. You will analyze standard and actual costs, support BOM accuracy, and perform margin analysis to guide pricing and profitability decisions.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in cost accounting within manufacturing, strong Excel/ERP skills, and familiarity with quality/regulatory standards. This on-site role partners with Operations and Finance to optimize cost controls.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong financial analysis skills with standard costs, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
• Experience with annual budget planning and variance analysis.
• Advanced Excel and ERP experience; BI tools familiarity.
• ISO 13485/FDA QSR knowledge preferred; professional certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and analyze standard and actual product costs (materials, labor, overhead, landed costs).
• Perform variance analysis (price, usage, labor efficiency, overhead absorption) with explanations to management.
• Support BOM accuracy and routing structures in ERP; ensure cost data integrity.
• Conduct product and margin analysis to support pricing and profitability improvements.
• Recommend process changes to reduce costs and maximize profit.
• Ensure accurate inventory valuation per GAAP; reconcile inventory accounts; support cycle counts.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to improve cost controls and manufacturing efficiency.
• Prepare cost-related journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules; assist audits.
• Support NPI by establishing preliminary and final product costs.
