Vaco by Highspring is seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join the finance team in Louisville, KY. The role will support cost accounting, inventory activity, and the general ledger to ensure accurate product costs and financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2–4 years of accounting experience in manufacturing or cost-focused roles.
• Understanding of cost accounting, inventory accounting, or job costing principles.
• Experience with general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and monitor product and job costing to ensure accurate cost allocation.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to cost accounting and inventory transactions.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations, including inventory and cost-related accounts.
• Assist with the month-end close process, including reviewing trial balances and supporting schedules.
• Support inventory tracking and variance analysis, identifying discrepancies and trends.
• Prepare bank and account reconciliations and investigate differences as needed.
• Work closely with operations and finance teams to ensure accurate cost reporting.
• Assist with financial reporting and internal management reporting.
• Support internal and external audit requests by providing documentation and analysis.
• Identify opportunities to improve cost tracking and accounting processes.
