Job summary

The Lieutenant will work with training staff to focus on the security aspects of training for all new DOC staff, contract employees, volunteers, and current employees. This person is also responsible for tracking training completion and compliance of all staff.

This Lieutenant will assist in the development and provide Basic, In-Service, and Specialized training courses at South Dakota State Penitentiary and throughout the department for newly hired employees and current existing employees

Qualifications

• Experience or education in training adult learners.
• Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
• Knowledge of correctional operations and policies.
• Experience managing subordinates.
• Ability to develop and revise curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Develop and revise training curriculum and materials.
• Track training completion and compliance for staff.
• Write test questions and ensure security of assessments.
• Deliver Basic, In-Service, and Specialized training.
• Manage new hire training throughout Basic Training.
• Travel to training sites as needed.
