Job summary

The State of Michigan Department of Corrections seeks a supervisor to direct Custody and Housing officers during shifts, ensuring alertness and proper operation. You will disseminate information to line staff and pass pertinent updates to supervisors.

Responsibilities include maintaining orderly shift operations, coordinating with support staff, and upholding department policies and safety standards. This role requires attention to detail, leadership, and the ability to manage urgent situations

Qualifications

• Completion of 15 semester (23 term) college credits in any field.
• Two years of experience equivalent to a Corrections Officer or Corrections Medical Officer, including one year equivalent to the E9 level; or, one year equivalent to a Special Alternative Incarceration Officer 9.
• Positions are test-designated and subject to pre-appointment and random-selection drug and alcohol testing.
• The Department of Corrections may screen out applicants with felony convictions per Public Act 191 of 2017.

• Directs and instructs Custody and Housing officers in the performance of their duties.
• Assures officers remain alert and responsive.
• Disseminates information to line staff and passes on pertinent information to supervisory staff.
• Assists in the orderly operations of the shift.
