Job summary

Eau Claire County seeks a Corporal to manage the County Jail's daily operations, supervise staff, coordinate custody, security, and transport of inmates, and enforce all policies. You will mentor officers, review schedules, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with jail standards.

You will respond to emergencies and maintain inmate safety while collaborating with supervisors and ensuring efficient operations. A strong focus on leadership, training, and adherence to regulations is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of experience as a certified correctional or law enforcement officer.
• Currently possess Wisconsin Department of Justice jail certification.
• Citizen of the United States.
• Criminal background check with no felony convictions.
• Must obtain Wisconsin Jail Officer Certification within twelve months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Observe correctional staff from stations or patrol areas to maintain order, safety, and security.
• Supervise, train, coach, and mentor jail staff and evaluate performance.
• Coordinate custody, security, and transportation of inmates.
• Assist staff in routine matters and provide guidance on policy interpretation.
• Ensure adherence to jail standards and procedures and provide ongoing training.
• Respond to emergencies, alarms, and incidents; document and refer for follow-up.
