Job summary

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required; degree in police science, criminal justice, human services, or related field preferred.
- Strong preference for prior civilian or military corrections or law enforcement experience and/or current jail officer certification.
Responsibilities
- Receive inmates and safeguard their possessions.
- Write reports and complete jail records (booking/release).
- Enter data into a computer.
- Supervise inmates and monitor welfare.
- Distribute medications per healthcare staff instructions.
- Operate security equipment in a modern jail.
- Search inmates for contraband and prohibited items.
- Maintain security and safety in a 24/7 jail facility.
- Appear in court and testify when required.
- Meet training and background check requirements.
