Job summary

Blair County Prison is seeking a shift lieutenant to serve as a mid-level manager overseeing budget, staff, inmate control, and operations. The role includes scheduling, investigations, training, and ensuring policy compliance on a 2nd shift (3 pm to 11 pm) on-site at Blair County Prison.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, Title 37 training within one year if needed, and at least three years of corrections experience with supervisory exposure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of Pennsylvania Department of Corrections Title 37 training within one year if not already held.
• At least three years of full-time corrections experience, with one year in a supervisory role.
• Moderate computer literacy in email, Internet, spreadsheets, and word processing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee department budget, policies, records retention, and staff scheduling.
• Supervise inmate control, employee relations, and operations; act as officer in charge when needed.
• Assist with recruitment, performance evaluations, and training; ensure adherence to procedures.
• Perform varied administrative tasks for warden, deputies, and boards; investigate issues as needed.
