Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social science, administration, or related field.
• Minimum four years of supervisory experience in a correctional or law enforcement setting.
• Must pass a background investigation prior to employment or promotion.
• Safety sensitive role; subject to alcohol and controlled substances testing.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Must qualify to carry and use firearms under Virginia and DCJS standards.
• Essential personnel during emergencies; may involve long hours.

• Supervise Sergeants and Deputies during assigned shifts.
• Oversee daily correctional operations and inmate supervision.
• Conduct facility inspections and review reports for compliance.
• Lead emergency response and critical incident management.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate staff performance.
