Job summary

Blair County Prison is seeking a shift lieutenant, a mid-level management role overseeing budget, employee relations, inmate control and custody, labor relations, operations, planning, and staff scheduling. The incumbent serves as officer in charge when the warden or deputies are absent.

Essential duties include routine facility tours, enforcing policies, scheduling, and investigations; participates in hiring, evaluations, and training; and stays current in corrections practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
• Willingness to work off-hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee department budget, employee relations, inmate control and custody, and staff scheduling.
• Supervise subordinate staff and inmates; enforce policies and procedures with firmness and tact.
• Coordinate performance evaluations, training, and firearms certification as needed.
