Job summary

The role requires leadership, incident response, and adherence to correctional procedures. A High School Diploma and 3 years in public safety/corrections are required; P.O.S.T certification is preferred or obtainable within a year.

Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of state and federal law enforcement and corrections procedures.
• Familiarity with departmental policies and procedures.
• Proficiency in supervision, assessing situations quickly, using firearms, and driving a vehicle.
• Good communication skills, both oral and written.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff, assigns work, conducts evaluations, and ensures policy compliance.
• Reviews reports, logs, and disciplinary files for accuracy and compliance.
• Searches inmates and facilities, conducts drug testing as needed.
• Prepares for transfers and verifies offender identities.
• Serves on Inmate Classification Committee and Disciplinary Hearing Officer.
• Responds to emergencies and ensures tool and key security.
• Oversees inmate activities and transportation.
• Monitors inmate activities to maintain security.
