Job summary

Augusta Richmond County is seeking a Supervising Corrections Officer to oversee facility security and personnel, ensuring compliance with laws, policies, and procedures. You will coordinate with staff, inmates, and external agencies to maintain safety and order.

The position requires five years in public safety or related fields, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain P.O.S.T. certification within one year. Travel and emergency call-ups may be involved.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of experience in public safety, law enforcement, corrections, and/or military.
• Knowledge of corrections practices and the criminal justice system.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license with good driving history.
• Ability to obtain P.O.S.T. Certification within one year.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff, assign work, conduct evaluations, ensure training and policy compliance.
• Act as Shift Supervisor in absence and handle security procedures.
• Monitor inmate movements, counts, activities, and transportation.
• Respond to emergencies, assess situations, and maintain safety.
• Conduct roll calls, distribute materials, and review security checks.
• Perform duties of a similar nature or level as required.
