Qualifications

• Five years of experience in repair and servicing of refrigeration or air conditioning systems.
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training including one year of journey level work.
• Active Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Teach standard methods for installing, repairing, inspecting, and maintaining refrigeration/AC systems.
• Deliver classroom lessons following a refrigeration mechanic curriculum.
• Oversee inmate work crews and direct completion of work orders during training.
• Maintain documentation of inmate attendance, training progress, and assignments.
• Issue and inventory materials and conduct searches for accountability.
• Determine needed materials and submit purchase requests when necessary.
