Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Corrections seeks a Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor at SCI Phoenix to train inmates in real-world refrigeration scenarios and support facility operations.

You will deliver classroom and hands-on instruction, supervise inmate crews, manage tools and attendance, and coordinate material planning to ensure safe, compliant training.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in the repair and servicing of refrigeration systems or air conditioning systems.
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade.

Responsibilities

• Teach refrigeration practices, methods, installation, repair, and maintenance to inmates.
• Direct inmate crews, assign daily tasks, and inspect completed work.
• Maintain order, track progress, and document attendance and training records.
• Issue, inventory, and search all tools and materials used during training and work assignments.
• Identify needed supplies and submit purchase requests for tools and materials.
