Job summary

State of West Virginia is seeking a Nature of Work: Corrections Program Specialist focused on Inmate Records at Pruntytown Correctional Center and Jail. The role supervises one Office Operations Associate and one Office Operations Assistant, handling the intake transfer of inmates and ensuring accuracy of legal files within the OIS.

Responsibilities include reviewing detainers, updating offender data, and coordinating release eligibility while adhering to federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in criminal justice, corrections, social work or related field.
• Substitution: 1 year of experience for 30 semester hours of training.
• Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in corrections, probation/parole, law enforcement, social work or related fields.
• Graduate coursework may substitute for experience at 15 semester hours per year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee transfer of legal files for inmate records.
• Update the Offender Information System (OIS) with pertinent information.
• Ensure detainers and pending charges are followed up and inmates are eligible for release.
