Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Corrections, is seeking a Corrections Plumbing Trade Instructor at SCI Mahanoy to teach plumbing skills and supervise inmate work in classroom and on-site settings, supporting facility operations.

You will deliver training, direct inmate crews, record progress, manage tools and materials, and ensure safety and compliance while guiding learners toward career-ready competencies.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, and installation of pipes, fittings, and fixtures used in heating, water, and drainage systems.
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the plumbing trade.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the plumbing trade.

Responsibilities

• Teach plumbing practices, systems, and procedures in classroom and work settings.
• Direct inmate work crews and inspect completed assignments.
• Document training progress, attendance, and daily schedules.
• Manage, issue, and inventory tools and materials used during training.
• Determine needed supplies and submit purchase requests.
