Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a Corrections Supervisor to oversee the operations section, train staff, and ensure policy compliance. You will manage security controls for sensitive forms, maintain accurate counts, and coordinate transportation with the sergeant.

The role requires strong supervisory experience and adherence to protocols within a correctional environment. Upon hire, completion of eight weeks of SCDC Basic Training is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma and relevant experience.
• A bachelor's degree may substitute for required experience.
• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and complete the basic supervisory course within six months of entry.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct operations section staff to ensure duties and policies are followed.
• Provide on-the-job training including briefings.
• Deliver courteous service to the general public, outside agencies, employees, and inmates.
• Maintain security and control of sensitive forms used in the operations section.
• Ensure accuracy of institutional counts.
• Record all gains, losses, authorized absences, etc. and document properly.
• Maintain close working relationships with agency divisions including classification and inmate records.
• Complete required reports timely and accurately.
• Receive and/or monitor calls from various agencies on operational matters.
• Coordinate all transportation requirements with transportation sergeant.
• Conduct routine/random rounds of assigned areas daily.
• Any and all other duties as assigned by administrative captain.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field may substitute for experience
