Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Corrections seeks a Corrections Maintenance Foreman at the Training Academy in Elizabethtown. You will lead inmate work crews, supervise maintenance activities, and teach basic trade skills while ensuring safe and efficient facility operations in a multi-trade environment.

You will oversee carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and related tasks, coordinate tools and materials, and support warehouse activities.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
• You must pass a background investigation and meet CJIS compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee inmate work crews completing maintenance, groundskeeping, construction, and janitorial tasks.
• Provide guidance in equipment operation, basic maintenance practices, and proper work procedures.
• Perform or assist with semi-skilled and skilled tasks in trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and related areas.
• Determine tools and materials needed for assignments and submit requests when supplies are required.
• Issue, track, and inventory materials and tools, and conduct searches to ensure all items are accounted for.
• Assist with warehouse activities and complete other related duties as assigned.
