Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is hiring for an assistant/senior supervisor role in an adult correctional facility or related centers. You will supervise officers, direct major activities, and maintain order and safety across living quarters and posts.

Applicants should have custody experience and a high school diploma; military service can substitute, and a valid driver’s license may be required. Benefit-rich state employment is offered, with retirement and health plans.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in the custody of adult criminal offenders in a city, county, state, or federal facility; and one year must have been as a Correctional Sergeant or Senior Probation and Parole Assistant with the Missouri Department of Corrections.
• Military service may be substituted for up to one year of the custody experience; two years of the listed custody experience is required.
• All requested documents MUST be received by the closing date listed.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and instructs lower-level Correctional Officers; develops expectations and monitors performance and work habits.
• Directs a major activity such as control center operation or reception/orientation process.
• Patrols living quarters/grounds/buildings to observe offender behaviors and the effectiveness of Correctional Officers; performs shift/post assignments; inspects staff arriving for duty; directs/performs regular rounds of assigned posts.
