Job summary

Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking an assistant/relief shift supervisor to oversee operations in an adult facility or transition center. You will supervise officers, direct key activities, and ensure discipline and safety among offenders.

The role requires 3+ years in custody settings and a high school diploma, with military service as a possible substitution. A comprehensive benefits package accompanies employment with state on a shift basis.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in the custody of adult criminal offenders in a city, county, state, or federal facility, of which one year must have been as a Correctional Sergeant or Senior Probation and Parole Assistant with the Missouri Department of Corrections.
• Military service may be substituted for up to one year of the custody experience; two years of the listed custody experience is required.
• All requested documents must be received by the closing date.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and instructs lower-level Correctional Officers; monitors performance and work habits.
• Directs major activities such as control center operation or reception/orientation.
• Patrols living quarters and grounds to observe offender behavior and staff duty compliance.
• Investigates disturbances and enforces discipline among offenders.
• Assists in conducting staff training and adheres to rules and regulations.
