Job summary

Colorado Department of Corrections seeks a Librarian II to supervise the daily operation of the facility libraries, ensuring access to library services for offenders and staff. You will manage budgets, develop collections, and coordinate with facility teams to integrate library programs into rehabilitation goals.

The role requires a MLS/Library Science background or a related degree plus two years of professional library experience, with supervisory duties and ILS proficiency highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field.
• Two years of professional library work experience.
• Master's degree may substitute for Bachelor's and experience as described.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and supervise general library services at multiple libraries.
• Provide reader's advisory and reference services to offenders and staff.
• Prepare unit budget requests and manage library budgets; maintain records and statistics.
• Communicate with facility staff to integrate library services into facility operations.
• Hire, train, supervise library staff and ensure accessibility for offenders.
• Develop collection development plans and purchase materials; weed outdated items.
• Catalog materials using Dewey classification and maintain catalog/ILS.
