Job summary

County of Volusia in Daytona Beach, FL, seeks an Inventory Control Specialist for the Corrections Division. The role involves managing the receiving, storing, and issuing of supplies within the Volusia County Branch Jail.

Staff will work inside a secured facility with daily contact with law enforcement personnel and inmates. A background check is required for clearance to work inside the jail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, maintaining inventory and stock control records.
• Preferred experience in a guarded facility (jail, school, hospital) and with computerized inventory systems (e.g. LUCITY).
• Comparable education, training, or experience may substitute the minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manages the storeroom operations.
• Orders, receives, unpacks, and stores goods and supplies.
• May input an online purchasing request for supplies and services.
• May coordinate activities with Purchasing.
• Checks incoming materials against invoices or purchase orders and files requisitions.
• Inspects goods received for conformance to quantity and quality specifications.
• May process invoices for payment.
• Maintains inventory and stock records and controls; inputs inventory data into computer.
• Estimates stock needs and inventory levels.
• Devises and maintains safeguards against loss, deterioration, and damage to goods.
• Reports any loss or misuse of materials and supplies to supervisor.
• May coordinate machine repair calls.
• Records inventory transactions to various accounting modules; establishes reorder points.
• Prepares periodic and special reports.
