Job summary

County of Orange seeks a Store Clerk to independently perform a mix of physical, manual, and office work in receiving, storing, and dispensing supplies within the County's correctional facilities. Reports to a Sr. Storekeeper and handles medical, dental, and office items across five jail locations.

The role requires strong organization, independent work ethic, and experience managing storerooms in institutional settings, with occasional heavy lifting and driving responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook proficiently.
• Creating, modifying, and tracking purchases.
• Maintaining inventory using Excel spreadsheet.
• Ordering medical supplies or equipment using a computerized inventory system.
• Conducting physical inventories at multiple jail locations.
• Performing simple arithmetic computations.
• Preparing clear and concise inventory records and reports.
• Using initiative to find best pricing when ordering supplies and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate a medium-size storeroom stocking medical, dental, and office supplies and equipment.
• Lift 65 pounds or more repeatedly during shifts.
• Create requisitions for supply purchases and submit orders to multiple vendors.
• Maintain records of items received and dispensed to departments.
• Check received items for damage before acceptance or distribution.
• Coordinate with vendors for replacement or credit for damaged/missing items.
• Rotate stock during delivery to shelves or containers.
• Provide support to Juvenile Hall when necessary.
• Operate a dolly, push carts, pallet jack to move heavy items.
• Operate a County vehicle to pick up/deliver parts and supplies.
• Deliver/pick up equipment, items from labs, hospitals, and jail facilities.
• Participate in defensive driving classes annually.
• Perform other work as assigned.
