Job summary

The Wisconsin Department of Corrections is seeking a Food Service Supervisor at Felmers Chaney Correctional Center to lead meal production, train resident workers, and manage kitchen operations on-site. This role requires coordinating menus, procuring supplies, and maintaining sanitation and inventory to ensure safe, efficient service.

Position Summary

Position Summary This position is responsible for the food service operation at the Felmers Chaney Correctional Center. This position will direct the production of meals, and train and supervise person in our care (resident) food service workers. This position plans meals, procures supplies, and will care for and clean kitchen equipment. This position maintains food inventory and ensures proper sanitation standards. This position may work holidays and weekends, and other times as needed and/or directed.

Salary Information

Salary Information This position is in pay schedule and range 03-13 with a starting pay of $26.87/hour. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Job Details

This position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site.

This position is FLSA Non-Exempt.

Anticipated schedule will be mostly Monday – Friday 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, with one evening a week and one weekend a month.

Food service employees in this classification must have the ability to work up to 14 hours per day and more than 40 hours per week on any shift based on daily operational needs. This may include weekends and holidays.

This position has physical requirements related to performing the job duties that involve being able to stand and move freely. This role will prepare food and inspect sanitation, which involves manipulating fine objects, operating appliances, and lifting freely up to 50 lbs. to perform necessary tasks, and may need to occasionally climb stairs. Food service workers will work in a commercial-style kitchen in close proximity to other staff and resident workers. This position must also comply with the facility’s health policies, including those regarding Tuberculosis Screening and Hepatitis Vaccination.

This position is not anticipated to travel on a regular basis, but most DOC positions occasionally travel for training, meetings, conferences, or similar events.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Qualifications

Minimally Qualified Applicants Will Have

Special Requirements

• Employees must obtain ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification (or equivalent) within six months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
• Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and meet State of Wisconsin fleet requirements. Employees will be required to maintain a valid driver's license and eligibility to drive a fleet vehicle during employment.
• Employees must maintain certification in BLS by the American Heart Association and training in the use of the AED and have the ability to perform BLS and/or first aid to prevent loss of life and relieve suffering until appropriate care arrives.
