Job summary

The County of Mendocino is seeking a Corrections Deputy to safeguard the Adult Detention Facility and welfare of inmates on an assigned shift. You will log activities, assist in bookings, and support security operations.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and mandatory training in Penal Code 832 and a corrections core course within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Introductory Penal Code 832 training within 90 days of appointment.
• STC corrections officer core course within one year.

Responsibilities

• Maintain facility security and supervise incarcerated persons on assigned shift.
• Prepare clear reports and maintain logs and records.
• Escort, transport and process incarcerated persons as needed.
• Respond to incidents and assist medical personnel when required.
