Job summary

NDCS in Lincoln, Nebraska is hiring for entry-level Corporal positions. This role involves monitoring inmates, enforcing facility rules, and conducting on-the-job training for new Corrections Officers.

• Must be able to legally possess a firearm and ammunition.

Responsibilities

• Monitor inmates/offenders in a wide variety of situations and activities.
• Enforces facility rules and regulations governing the conduct of inmates/offenders.
• Documents inmate/offender behavior, status and movement.
• Searches inmates'/offenders' person, quarters and work areas for contraband.
• Operates security equipment to control movement of inmates, staff and public.
• Overtime, including weekends, holidays and double shifts.
