Job summary

Under general supervision, you will conduct inspections, investigations, counts, and report preparation while coaching staff, handling disciplinary actions, and coordinating training to meet performance standards.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Must complete SCDC Basic Training within eight weeks of hire.
• A degree in criminal justice or related field may substitute for part of the experience.
• Must be certified by the SC Department of Corrections Training Academy.

Responsibilities

• Supervise security assigned to housing units and custody of inmates.
• Make routine inspections of living areas for security, safety, and sanitation.
• Conduct investigations of alleged misconduct by inmates or staff.
• Assist in formal and informal counts.
• Supervise staff performance, conduct, and appearance; prepare evaluations.
• Counsel, recommend disciplinary actions, and train subordinate staff.
• Prepare reports as needed.
