This position is located at Bertie Correctional Institution in Windsor, NC. It involves first-line supervision of Correctional Officer III's in close-custody institutions. Responsibilities include overseeing staff activities, maintaining security and inmate welfare, scheduling shifts, implementing procedures, and ensuring compliance with policies. The role reports to a Correctional Lieutenant III or Housing Unit Manager and requires ensuring staff training and conduct, maintaining facility security, leading during drills and emergencies, and conducting investigations and reports. Certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission is required.
Effective January 1, 2025, new salary adjustments will be implemented, maintaining the range of $39,671 - $69,426. Previous applicants remain under consideration and do not need to reapply.
This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) with State Benefits.
