This position is assigned to Pasquotank Correctional Institution located in Elizabeth City, NC. Work involves first-line supervision of Correctional Officer III's in close-custody institutions with restrictive and controlled housing. Employees oversee officer activities, ensure the custody, security, and welfare of inmates, and manage work schedules, operational procedures, and compliance with policies. They supervise staff, report to Correctional Lieutenant III and/or Housing Unit Manager, maintain facility security through inspections, direct emergency responses, conduct searches for contraband, investigate incidents, prepare reports, evaluate staff performance, and conduct briefings.
This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) with State Benefits. The salary grade is NC09, with new salary ranges from $39,671 to $69,426 effective January 1, 2025. Current applicants must reapply as this is a repost.
Management prefers candidates with at least 2 years of correctional officer experience.
High school diploma or GED, plus three years of correctional officer experience, or two years as a Correctional Officer III, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be eligible for certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Standards Commission.
