Reporting directly to the Correctional Lieutenant III and/or Correctional Housing Unit Manager at a multi-custody male correctional facility, this position provides first-line supervision to Correctional Officer III’s. Job responsibilities include:
This position requires knowledge of prison policies and procedures, facility operations, and relevant KSAs. It is a full-time role (40 hours/week) with State Benefits, requiring flexibility to work any shift, including weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 coverage.
The salary range effective January 1, 2025, is $39,671 - $69,426. Current state employees are encouraged to apply, with salary adjustments based on experience and internal considerations.
About Central Prison: Located in Raleigh, NC, since 1884, it serves as the main intake and healthcare facility for adult male felons and houses special populations like death row. Offenders participate in various work and rehabilitation programs.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, and three years of experience as a Correctional Officer, or two years as a Correctional Officer III, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification eligibility by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards is required.
