The State of North Carolina is seeking a full-time Correctional Supervisor at Pasquotank Correctional Institution. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring inmate security, and maintaining facility operations. Candidates must have relevant experience and education, with a focus on compliance and training.
This position isassigned to Pasquotank Correctional Institution located in Elizabeth City, NC. Work in this class involves first-line supervision of Correctional Officer III's in close-custody institutions with restrictive and controlled housing. Positions assign lower-level custody staff to a particular area or post. Employees oversee officer activities and performance, ensuring the custody, security, and welfare of inmates are maintained. Employees arrange work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implement operational procedures, and ensure rules and regulations are followed according to policy. Employees at this level supervise more staff than in the lower-level Correctional Sergeant I or II. Positions report directly to a Correctional Lieutenant III and/or the Correctional Housing Unit Manager. They ensure staff are fully trained and that proper conduct, actions, and procedures are followed. They maintain facility security through regular inspections to ensure compliance with regulations relating to facility maintenance and the health and safety of inmates. They give direction during drills, searches, and emergencies. They may refer inmates to restrictive housing temporarily, lead staff in tactical assignments, respond to emergencies, search for escaped offenders, and transport offenders. They conduct or supervise searches of offenders, their quarters, and work areas for contraband. They investigate security issues, incidents, disputes, and complaints, and prepare various reports. They complete annual performance evaluations, assist in employee discipline, conduct staff briefings, and perform other related duties as required. Must be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

To qualify, applicants must document on their application that they possess ALL of the following:
Management Preference: Candidates with at least 2 years as a Correctional Officer are preferred.

Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma or GED and either three years of experience as a Correctional Officer or two years as a Correctional Officer III, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
