Job summary

The NC Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Correctional Sergeant II (S) for Neuse Correctional Institution in Goldsboro, NC. This supervisory role reports to the Correctional Lieutenant II and provides daily supervision to correctional officers on the assigned shift rotation.

Applicants must meet Criminal Justice Standards, pass a criminal background check, provide a negative drug screening, and successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations.

Qualifications

• High School or GED diploma and two years six months of experience as a Correctional Officer.
• Two years of experience as Correctional Officer II.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise correctional officers on the assigned shift rotation.
• Ensure DPS policy and procedures are followed.
• Participate in/conduct shift line-up and assign posts.
• Complete, review and maintain timesheets, duty rosters, and leave schedules.
• Ensure equipment is operational and communicate effectively with staff and inmates.
• Work 12.25-hour shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
