Job summary

The GEO Group is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our correctional health care team, working alongside an RN to deliver high-quality nursing care to inmates while maintaining safety and confidentiality.

You will develop care plans, perform physical assessments, administer medications, and document medical records in a secure, compliant environment. Prior correctional experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of the facility.
• Two years of direct work experience preferred.
• Competence in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care.
• Ability to work without direct supervision in nursing diagnosis and follow-through treatment.

Responsibilities

• Develop nursing care plans with guidance from the RN.
• Perform complete physical assessment and medical history.
• Provide nursing care within your capacity and refer other medical problems to the physician.
• Administer prescribed medications as instructed.
• Periodically evaluate patients' symptoms, reactions, and progress, and report problems to management.
• Securely administer medication, taking precautions against drug hoarding and trafficking.
• Follow industry and company accreditation policies.
• Document detainee/inmate contacts and keep medical records confidential.
