Job summary

State of North Carolina is seeking a Correctional Asst Supt for Program I at a minimum custody facility in Davidson County. The role leads program services, oversees staff, and ensures program integrity in alignment with department standards.

You will manage offender schedules, classification, and therapeutic initiatives, while supporting administrative tasks and facility operations to maintain safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and one year of supervisory/management experience in correctional programs or equivalent.
• Knowledge of correctional programs and offender rehabilitation strategies.
• Ability to interpret assessment results and apply to classification and program needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for facility programs including classification, chaplaincy, recreation, transitional services, work assignments, healthcare, mental health, and educational opportunities.
• Supervise direct and indirect staff; manage recruitment and performance; ensure policy compliance.
• Maintain structured offender schedules and oversee daily and special activities; ensure programming and evidence-based practices.
• Direct offender classification processes and ensure timely, policy-compliant decisions on custody levels and transfers.
• Prepare reports; respond to inquiries; coordinate staff communication; assist with budget planning.
