STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Responsible for the care and custody of inmates detained at the Norfolk County Sheriff's Office and Correctional Center or related programs.
  2. Supervise inmate work details within the correctional center, ensuring areas are maintained in a clean, secure, and sanitary manner.
  3. Conduct searches of inmates and areas within the facility for contraband according to Sheriff's Office policies.
  4. Ensure and enforce adherence to regulations and rules of the correctional center.
  5. Prepare inmate disciplinary, informational, and other reports as required by the Facility Shift Commander.
  6. Transport prisoners to courts, hospitals, or other institutions while ensuring their safety and custody.
  7. Adhere to proper key control procedures.
  8. Conduct accurate inmate head counts following Sheriff's Office policies.
  9. Make recommendations to the classification board regarding inmates assigned to housing units.
  10. Recommend policy and procedure changes to superiors within the chain of command.
  11. Maintain and document all facility logbooks properly.
  12. Conduct daily cell inspections to prevent contraband, security, and sanitary violations.
  13. Be familiar with and ensure compliance with all emergency contingency plans: body alarm, escape, disorder, medical, and fire evacuation procedures.
  14. Assist and perform all other duties assigned by the Facility Shift Commander.
  15. The Sheriff reserves the right to modify these responsibilities as needed.
