Job Description

Title: Corrections Officer

Job Purpose: Ensures a high-quality corrections facility by providing for the care, custody, and control of inmates. Supervises inmates in their personal and quarters cleanliness according to established rules and regulations.

Key Expected Results

1. Manage inmate processing, transportation, care, and behavior to ensure safety and security.
2. Oversee inmate activities including lock downs, head counts, recreation, visits, and programs.
3. Organize and manage inmate court transportation ensuring safety.
4. Supervise cleaning and disinfecting of inmate quarters and supply management.
5. Take emergency actions, including summons of medical services and managing transfers.
6. Lead evacuation procedures during emergencies like fire or bomb threats.
7. Supervise inmate behavior during recreation, visits, dining, and other activities.
8. Handle inmate altercations and escort unruly inmates to segregation.
9. Maintain accurate logs of significant activities.
10. Conduct searches to prevent contraband.
11. Assist staff in specialized tasks as trained.
12. Manage inmate mail services.
13. Participate in ongoing education and professional development.
14. Contribute to team efforts and support safety policies.

Physical Requirements

Perform sheriff task forces and other responsibilities as assigned, including physical activities necessary for the role.
