Job summary

UTMB Health seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse to provide direct nursing care to patients within a correctional setting. The role requires following the nursing plan of care and adhering to privacy and infection control standards.

You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, perform admissions/discharges, and assist with procedures while under supervision. This is a part-time, 19-hour weekly assignment with no benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and current Texas VN license.
• Current license/permit as a vocational nurse in Texas.
• Current BLS-HP certification is required.
• No experience required; recent graduates may be considered with temporary permits.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
• Perform admission, discharge and transfer procedures.
• Follow physician orders and document care.
• Administer medications and treatments safely.
• Maintain patient privacy and infection control.
• Document nursing care in patient records.
• Assemble equipment for procedures and assist others.
