Job summary

CorrHealth is seeking a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse to support inmate care in a correctional Health Care Unit. Under RN supervision, you will assist with assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.

Responsibilities include administering medications (including IV therapy if certified), aiding in procedures, triaging healthcare requests, and maintaining accurate documentation while upholding HIPAA and security policies.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited LPN/LVN program.
• Have and maintain current licensure as a LPN/LVN within the state of employment.
• Must have current CPR/BLS certification

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of a Registered Nurse, assists in the assessment of inmates' physical, psychological, and social dimensions in the Health Care Unit and housing units as needed.
• Assists in planning and implementing individual treatment programs and educates inmates under RN guidance.
• Administers medications according to proper techniques and procedures, including IV therapy (when certified).
• Assists the provider in evaluations, medical procedures, and minor surgical procedures as necessary, using SOAP charting.
• Obtains body fluid specimens and performs EKGs using proper techniques and procedures.
• Maintains and documents controlled substances and medical equipment.
• Intervenes in diverse situations with proper safety techniques and standard precautions.
• Implements nutrition and therapeutic diet plans as ordered by provider.
• Triages and assesses healthcare requests
