Job summary

CorrHealth is seeking a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse to assist in delivering inmate care under RN supervision. The role supports assessment, treatment planning, medication administration, and patient education in a correctional health unit.

Responsibilities include assisting with procedures, EKGs, specimen collection, and triage, while maintaining HIPAA compliance and safety standards in a high-security environment.

Qualifications

• Clear and effective verbal and written communication with coworkers, supervisors, and patients.
• Strong comprehension and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to safety and privacy.
• Ability to use a computer and related health record software.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of a Registered Nurse, assists in assessment of inmates’ physical, psychological, and social needs.
• Helps plan and implement individual treatment programs and inmate teaching.
• Administers medications per procedures, including IV therapy when certified.
• Assists in procedures and minor surgeries, using SOAP charting.
• Obtains specimens and performs EKGs with proper technique.
• Maintains and documents controlled substances and medical equipment.
• Triages and assesses healthcare requests and promotes safety.
