Job summary

Colorado Department of Corrections is seeking a licensed Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant for medical care in a correctional setting in Limon, Colorado.

The role requires prescribing medications, performing examinations, and providing emergency medical coverage to offenders in a secure facility. Applicants must hold valid Colorado licenses and be able to obtain prescriptive authority within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• APN speciality must be in General Family Practice (FNP), or Adult Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP).
• PA speciality must be in Family Medicine and General Practice.
• Applicant must be willing and able to obtain full prescriptive authority (RXN) as issued by the State of Colorado (DORA) and the DEA, within six months of hire.
• Current, valid licensure as Advanced Practice Nurse/NP or Physician Assistant from Colorado boards.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical examinations and obtain histories for assigned patients.
• Assess and treat acute/chronic medical problems and provide direct patient care.
• Prescribe medications from the CDOC formulary using CDOC guidelines.
