Job summary

State of Colorado is seeking a Clinical Nurse to deliver medical assessment, diagnosis and treatment for inmates in clinics, infirmaries or special needs facilities. Duties include exams, sick calls, emergency care, rounds, and coordinating care within the CDOC framework.

The role requires APN/NP or PA licensure in Colorado, prescriptive authority within six months, and strong communication for collaboration with health care teams. Travel to other facilities may be required.

Qualifications

• Active licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Colorado or as a Physician Assistant (PA) with Colorado license.
• Strong clinical judgement and emergency care capabilities.
• Ability to obtain prescriptive authority as required by state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment in inmate care settings.
• Prescribe medications per CDOC formulary and guidelines.
• Perform examinations, sick calls, rounds, and emergency care as needed.
• Coordinate with dental and mental health when applicable; maintain records.
