Job summary

State of Colorado is seeking qualified Advanced Practice Nurses and Physician Assistants to provide comprehensive medical care for inmates at the Denver Complex. Responsibilities include examinations, diagnoses, prescriptions from the CDOC formulary, and emergency coverage

Must hold Colorado APN or PA licensure with specialty in Family Practice and demonstrate ability to obtain RXN/DEA within six months. On-site roles may require travel to other facilities.

Qualifications

• APN specialization must be in General Family Practice (FNP) or Adult Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP).
• PA specialty must be in Family Medicine and General Practice.
• Applicant must be willing to obtain full prescriptive authority (RXN) and DEA within six months of hire.
• Current valid licensure as APN or PA required.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for inmates in clinical settings (clinic, infirmary, or special needs facility).
• Perform physical examinations and detailed histories.
• Prescribe medications from the CDOC formulary per policies.
• Provide emergency medical coverage and basic life support as needed.
• Review labs, X-rays, and EKGs; order tests as needed.
