Job summary

The Delaware Department of Correction seeks a CO/Physical Plant Maintenance trades technician to perform preventive maintenance, electrical work, HVAC maintenance and related duties across facilities. The role offers a base salary of $55,421.21 with CEIT training increasing to $73,329 after probation and eligibility for a 5% shift differential for night hours.

Applicants must hold a Delaware Journeyperson or higher Electrician license (or equivalent from another state), have six months in

Qualifications

Delaware Journeyperson Electrician license or higher, or equivalent from another state as accepted by the Delaware Board.
Six months experience in plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
Six months experience in record keeping.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints/schematics/technical drawings.
Knowledge of estimating cost, time and materials for projects.
Valid Driver's License (not suspended).

Responsibilities

Performs preventive routine and complex maintenance on building structures, equipment, HVAC and other systems.
Restores and renovates facilities and layouts to maximize space efficiency.
Oversees work of maintenance staff and inmate workforce on assigned tasks.
Maintains records of work performed, materials used and time spent.
Maintains security of tools, supplies and equipment; participates in searches as required.
