Job summary

State of Delaware is seeking a Physical Plant Maintenance/Trades Technician to perform preventative and complex maintenance on building structures, electrical systems and HVAC components. The role requires basic carpentry, plumbing or HVAC experience, plus the ability to read blueprints and manage basic estimates.

Overtime may be required during storms and emergencies. A valid electrician license from Delaware or another state is essential, along with a valid driver’s license and a background

Qualifications

• Possession of a Delaware Journeyperson or higher Electrician license OR from another state meeting Delaware requirements.
• Six months experience in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
• Six months experience in record keeping.
• Knowledge of interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.
• Knowledge of estimating cost, time and materials for projects.
• Possession of a valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative, routine and complex maintenance on building structures, fixtures, and HVAC and related systems.
• Performs electrical work including modifying electrical service and repairing systems.
• Renovates facilities, builds partitions, and designs layouts for efficient space use.
• Oversees and coordinates with contractors when costs exceed capability limits.
• Maintains and repairs pumps, HVAC systems, and related equipment; operates life safety devices.
• Keeps records of work performed, materials used and time spent on tasks.
