Job summary

Department of Correction is seeking a Correctional Officer to perform routine and preventive maintenance, supervise inmate work crews, and assist in plumbing, carpentry, and general facility repairs. The role requires a high school diploma and a valid driver’s license, with opportunities for advancement after CEIT training.

Starting salary is $55,421.21 with a raise to $65,538 after CEIT and a 5% shift differential for night hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of operating and maintaining equipment and tools used in plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on facility equipment (bulbs, filters, pumps, belts, gauges).
• Perform minor repairs in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, painting; install masonry and tile; repair doors/locks and blinds.
• Assist in machinery repair and in groundskeeping, snow/ice removal, grass cutting, trash removal.
